Partner with Latrobe Art Center and the Fred Rogers Center, and spread kindness and creativity throughout Westmoreland County during the art center's third annual Week of Kindness!
From May 20-24, Latrobe Art Center is seaking to spread intentional acts of kindness throughout the community coinciding with Pennsylvania's own designated day of kindness (1-4-3 Day) inspired by the life and legacy of Fred Rogers. Using specially designed "You've Been Fred Roger-ed" cards, create a ripple effect of kindness, and share some much needed joy and hope with your loved ones and fellow community members.

2023 Local Writers Contest
Children in grades K-3 are invited to join Adams Memorial Library and Latrobe Art Center in "writing your future" in the second local writers contest modeled after the annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest! Write and illustrate your own original story around the theme of "Write My Future" for your chance to win prizes and receive local recognition. The contest will run NOW through March 1, 2023.

Art Classes for Kids: Rainbow Trees
Using our painting and printmaking skills, we will paint a field of trees in a rainbow of colors. It’s amazing what bubble wrap, Q-tips, and a paintbrush can do!
Art Classes for Kids: Cupcakes, Cupcakes, Cupcakes!
The artist Wayne Thiebaud is famous for his paintings of yummy pastries and desserts on display in a bakery window. We will draw our own big, wonderfully decorated cupcake using chalk pastels on black paper for a vibrant glow. We will also learn how to shadow the cupcake so it looks like we can actually grab it!
Art 101 for High School Students
These six art classes will introduce students to the use of three basic mediums—drawing pencils, color pencils, and pastels—to develop technique-based drawing and art skills that will promote confidence and creativity with personal self-expression through the art process. This class is designed for students 15 years of age through adulthood who have a unique desire to learn basic art skills and techniques in the creation of “artistic expression.”

These six art classes are designed to introduce students grades 6-9 to two and three dimensional art projects that focus on basic drawing skills and satisfying the creative and energetic mind of the more serious art student. Various art styles such as optical art, mobile creation, and sculpture will be explored, along with getting familiar with artists such as Alexander Calder, M.C. Esher, Victor Vasarely, and Bridget Riley being presented. Students will also have the ability to experiment with a variety of media. Recommended for homeschool students looking to fulfill an art requirement.

Art Classes for Kids: Notan Paper with Zentangle Doodles
Using only black and white construction paper, we will cut multiple shapes out of a black square and glue them down in a positive/negative space pattern. Then we will fill the newly created white spaces with little black lines and shapes in a Zentangle Doodle! Our finished work will be bold and unique!
