A watercolor course designed to introduce and reinforce a variety of techniques & use of tools for successful watercolor paintings. Through guided lessons & demonstrations multi-leveled students will be encouraged to practice developing their own style of painting.

Beginners Colored Pencil Class

Colored pencil is a fascinating layered technique that enables you to achieve a high degree of detail.  This class will teach you to see all the different values of color and be able to create those values of color in your drawing.  The results are amazing! 

Must be able to pay attention to detail, have patience, and have a basic beginners drawing class under your belt.

Basic Drawing Class

If you always wanted to learn how to draw or you love drawing, this class is for you.  Learn how to draw on the “right” side of your brain.  This technique is guaranteed to give you greater confidence in your ability to draw and deepen  your artistic perception.  Everyone can draw once we train our eye to truly see what we’re drawing rather than what we know.  Once you start, you won’t be able to stop!!
Materials Needed:  Drawing Pad 9x12, a kneaded eraser, ruler, HB, 2B, 6B, 8B Drawing Pencils.

Watercolor Landscape Class – 4 Week

Learn to record images of nature and add structures, such as barns and houses, using photographs as a starting point.  This class is designed for students with some watercolor experience.  Bring your own supplies with you.

Oil Painting with Jolene Joyner – Workshop

Learn the different techniques of oil painting from real life photographs and still life.  Jolene will give individual instruction on your own level.

Materials Needed: Bring your own supplies and brushes along with a canvas or canvas board no bigger than 11x14, odorless turpentine, a jar to clean and swish your brushes, old rags and a palette.  Also make sure you have cadmium red light and cobalt blue.

Materials Needed: A full sheet of canson paper, new pastels, charcoal, soft pastels, and any other supplies you already have.

Cartoon Animation Cell Workshop – Ages 8-14

Create your own animation cell of your favorite cartoon character.  This is one project that everyone enjoys and one you don’t want to miss!  Wear old paint clothes!

The children will create various art projects focusing on color, shapes, and different media.  Each day will consist of a different theme, an art project, and end the day with a art book.   The children will have nothing but FUN!

Enjoy the relaxed and fun atmosphere of the Art Center by bringing your own supplies and painting or drawing for the afternoon.  A still life will be set up, or you can bring your current project.  It’s always a good time, and a great group of artists!!  Open Studio will run throughout the year, so feel free to come and go as you please!
