Banana Split

The small town of Latrobe has been declared the national marker for the “Home of the Banana Split”. In 1904, David Evans Strickler invented this new treat at Strickler’s Pharmacy located on Ligonier Street. To celebrate this, the Latrobe Art Center is holding a contest in which musical performers and composers have the chance to create a jingle that represents Latrobe as the birth place of this sweet sundae.
